Horse Projects
Giddy-up! I was one of those horse-crazy but horseless little girls. After an ill-fated year of having an Appaloosa in my childhood (when my family and I were far too “horse beginners” to know what we were doing) and many times being bucked off, I didn’t get a chance to have my own horse again until I was old enough to pay for it myself. I worked pet-sitting, farm-sitting, and cleaning stalls until I saved up enough.
Most of my favorite memories in life are tied into horses – and only a few of them from when I’m in the saddle. Becoming a fan of horseracing when I was just 16 set me on a path of wanting to work in the horse industry. All the friends I made and adventures I had working at Saratoga Race Course in upstate New York, a riding stable in Massachusetts, and a breeding farm as well as equestrian sport office in Lexington, KY were all courtesy of horses guiding my path.
I work full-time in the horse industry now, and I have several book ideas involving these awesome creatures, from a non-fiction racing book about the most interesting crop of Thoroughbreds ever produced, to a children’s picture book about a very special horse who was rescued from across the ocean before finding his dream home.
One of my favorite hobbies is taking photos of horses. Make sure you check out my Photography page to see a few of my favorite pics.
